They put in a leader who is making them less able to afford basic living necessities while telling them how amazing things will be. History tells us they’re not doing well, either, for what little that is worth to anyone.

We can only hold so much knowledge, so there will always be room to improve.
And I’m even still thankful for all of the half-truths that served me well along my journey.
pinball_wizard@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The small scale of Lemmy's active user base is never more evident than in the absence of active members in all the sports related communities.8·1 day agoESPNs fees and blackouts exhausted me.
If folks want to gather around and cheer for a sport again, I’m in.
But I’m waiting for a DRM free, non-geo-locked, consistent, reliable Livestream URL. It can be paid, but there probably needs to be free tier to get me interested.
I get that I’m asking a lot, since streaming isn’t cheap. But I refuse to believe it’s as burdensome as ESPN makes it.
Edit: To be clear - please link me to your favorite non-ESPN sports streaming services, and I’ll check them out. Thanks in advance!

FYI, this belief actively keeps folks (including me, previously) out of some really productive, effective and great communities.
While it’s legally true, it’s not ethically acceptable in many important mutual aid agreements.
I find that once I spend enough time in a community, I owe a lot of people for a lot of good they have done me.
I didn’t previously have strong awareness of this, and my lack of awareness limited my career progress and community reputation.
Edit: I find that someone posted it to LinkedIn is particularly funny, since LinkedIn is all about posturing for a mostly imaginary community.

Since folks are sworn to silence, I don’t know how much value there can be in speculating that only evil can be afoot.
It’s weird to think about how I will never be involved in as much human sex as I have been involved (by randomly walking in the middle of) random plant sex. We humans just don’t do sex aggressively enough to keep up.

Well said.
For lowest power, the LePotato is (humorously) named for it’s low power requirements, and I understand the Pi Zero can actually run for hours on small rechargeable battery packs.
A smaller lower power draw Pi Zero alternative that comes to mind is Arduino Teensy. But it sounds like no one is running Linux on Arduino Teensy, yet ?
But the folks in that forum sound like the types who might make it happen at some point.

pinball_wizard@lemmy.zipto Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•The SteamOS era is imminent: Valve adds a new compatibility rating for games that’ll run on ‘any device that’s not a Steam Deck’English1·3 days agoGood point.
The SteamDeck has two (surprisingly good) trackpads, so I’ve had surprisingly few issues there.
I also play some point and click games with one of the joysticks mapped to the mouse. It that can be fine for some games.
But it feels like folks could have a worse experience if they don’t bring the necessary controllers. I guess maybe Valve’s rating will just assume bring-your-own-controller?
What is actually the lowest end device that can run Linux
The Pi Zero and LePotato come to mind. Both are pocket sized and surprisingly capable.
But both are modern computers, and Linux has been around for a long time. So I wonder if the correct answer is something much older, larger and less capable. So this is probably a question for historians? (I don’t see an obvious answer on Wikipedia.)
We’re good. I…guess I can update this post if that changes.
